Article from The New York Times titled "Coppell Window In Grace Chapel." The window was built in memory of George Coppell's wife, Helen Hoffman Gillingham Coppell who was born in 1884 and died on 2/11/1994. The article also notes that George Coppell was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Coppell who died in August, 1872. That would have been about ten years after George Coppell left Liverpool for New Orleans.

Helen Hoffman Gillingham was the daughter of Harper Gillingham of New Orleans. Her mother died of cholera in 1852 prior to George Coppell's arrival in New Orleans. Her father died in 1861. Since she was an only daughter, he presumably left her all of his wealth. George Coppell and Helen Hoffman Gillingham were married on March 14th, 1862 in New Orleans.

He was a very influential person and the first president of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dyna Beumer was famous operatic singer of the day from Belgium (see photo.) Geoge Coppell's wife is noted, so it was after her death.
