The Wilson House was built in 1945, and the family moved into the house in 1947. It was home to Wheelice Wilson Sr., Ruby Nell Harlin Wilson, and their three children Wheelice “Pete” Wilson Jr., William “Dubbie” Wilson, and Janis Wilson Arthur. Almost all of the furnishings in the house belonged to the Wilsons, and the home is a glimpse into everyday life in midcentury America. The house, along with the garage, are the only buildings original to the acre of land that Heritage Park sits on, which was donated by the Wilson family. Wilson Elementary is named after Wheelice Sr., and the black box theater at the Coppell Arts Center is named after Pete.
