COPPELL FIRE DEPARTMENT
Fire Chief Richard Lee describes how back in 1956 when he got married, there was no fire or police department in Coppell. In 1956, they met with the City of Dallas about forming a fire department. Their first fire truck was a 1938 Chevy with a 600 gallon tank. They then purchased a 1941 Ford from the City of Carrollton. Their EMT (ambulance) program began in 1972 and hired their first paid employee that year. The next year they hired two more people. Chief Lee retired in 1985. Today, the Coppell Fire Department has 93 positions.
