The history of Coppell, Texas goes back to just after the birth of the Republic of Texas in 1836. The area was part of a land grant company in 1841 called Peters Colony to entice settlers here. In 1843, the president of the Republic of Texas, Sam Houston, met at Grapevine Springs in an attempt to sign the Republic's first Indian treaty. Much has changed.
