The Wilson family lived in Wilson House which is now part of Heritage Park. Pete was the long time President of the Coppell Historical Society and instrumental in the creation of the park. W.H. Wilson Elementary was named after their father. Pete was a teacher and principal at Coppell High. The Wilson family has played an important role in the history of Coppell.

Janis is shown standing next to a picture of her older brother Wheelice “Pete” Wilson, Jr. which is located at the Main Hall entrance of the Coppell Arts Center. Pete was the founder of Theatre Coppell and was also its Artistic Director. Janis followed in his footsteps as Director of Theatre Coppell and is a veteran actor. She leads the Young Actors Workshop and has helped shape the next generation of young and aspiring actors.
