There are ten Howell graves located in this cemetery. (Burrell Barton Howell, 1839-1929), married Sarah Susanna Bullock (1849-1887). She was part of the original Bullock family that settled in this area. The family built one of the first two story homes near what is now Grapevine Springs Park. Burrell made his living farming. They were the grandparents of William T. Crosby, Coppell’s second mayor, and namesake of the public library. Burrell Howell had a family history of military service Born in Blue Springs, Kentucky, he was a Confederate Civil War veteran. His grandfather served as a soldier under George Washington.
The first church in what is now Coppell, was established September 17, 1879. The Grapevine Methodist Episcopal Church South covered an acre of land at the northwest corner of today’s South Coppell and West Bethel School roads. Burrell Howell was one of the church’s first trustees. He was known for his kindness and gifts for the children of the congregation.

Bridges (1859-1908), and Winfield H. Howell (1880-1898).
