Dobecka Family Reunion - By Cecil Dobecka
The following is an account of the Dobecka Family Reunion told by one of our longtime members, Cecil Dobecka.
Attached is a picture from our Dobecka Reunion in April of this year at Dubina, Texas which is a small community south of LaGrange. This is the place my great-grand parents settled at after their separate arrivals to America in the early 1870's. My grandfather, Frank P. Dobecka was born there in 1876 and my grandmother, Mary Naizer was born near there in 1879. They were married in Granger, Texas in 1900. In 1906 they moved to Haskell County, north of Abilene with 3 children. In 1912 they then moved to NW Dallas County with now 6 children. Their 286-acre farm was on the west side of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River between Coppell and Carrollton. 5 more children were born on this farm, which included my Dad. This land is now part of Valley Ranch or the flood plain of the river.
The group picture includes the some of the descendants of Frank and Mary (Naizer) Dobecka taken at the old Community Hall in Dubina. We have been having the reunion there every 2 years for the last 40 years or so. Hope you can place picture in the Archives.
