CLAY PHILLIPS

While serving as Fire Chief, he and others envisioned a Fire Safety Town and introduced the Learn Not To Burn program taught at CISD. He began working for the Coppell Fire Department (CFD) as a volunteer in high school and worked 10 years at Addison Fire Department ultimately becoming Deputy Fire Chief. In 1991, he became CFD Fire Chief. He served as the City Manager (2008-2017). He helped grow a servant leadership organizational culture which worked to exceed the expectations of those it served, helping to make Coppell a community of choice.

Clay has deep roots in Coppell. Both he and his father were born here. The Phillips family has played an important role in the history of the city over the years. Clay says, “He was just happy to be here; everybody else just tried to get here as fast as they could.”
