The Origin of the Texas State Flag
Coppell Cozby Library, Conference Room AB
Saturday, May 24th at 11 am
Do you know the origin and history of the Texas State Flag? Why is Texas called the Lone Star State and how does it relate to the Republic of Texas? Did you know that the Burnet Texas Republic Flag with a blue background and a lone star was adopted in 1836 and flew until our current flag was adopted in 1839?
Come hear University of North Texas history professor Dr. Richard McCaslin give a fascinating presentation on the subject. Dr. McCaslin is a noted expert on Texas history and has written dozens of books and articles on the history of Texas, the Texas Rangers, and the Civil War. This will be a great presentation. Don't miss it!
