The Coppell Historical Society

The dynamic community of Coppell has been associated with many names over
the past 150 years – Grapevine Prairie, Bethel, and Gibbs – but it became known as Coppell in 1890, was officially designated as Coppell in 1892, and was incorporated as a city in 1955.
The Coppell Historical Society’s mission is to discover, preserve and champion Coppell’s rich heritage for present and future generations. Find out how you can play a part in this mission by joining and / or donating today.
Join our effort to find the oldest trees in coppell!
The public is invited to participate in Coppell’s first workday for the Witness Tree Project, sponsored by the Coppell Historical Society. Volunteers will be assigned to groups and will set out to locate and document trees in Coppell which, because of their age and/or size, are witnesses to history. Once identified, such Witness Trees can be entered into continuing catalogues that are maintained by local, state and even national forestry services.
Many volunteers have already met and been instructed in methods of identifying and measuring these trees during a public forum held in March. However, new participants are welcome to join the project on April 21 and will be given information at that time. All ages are invited to participate.
Saturday, April 21, 9:00 am, meet at Coppell Fire Station #3 (next to Town Center, 635 E. Parkway)
